Rather than simply skirting the lakes as in the classic version, this route takes you on a real tour of the 3 lakes - a complete loop in which each lake is revealed from its most beautiful angles. A little more challenging and slightly longer, this hike takes you through stubble fields, forests and ridges, linking the lakes by the most beautiful paths for a complete discovery of these high altitude jewels.

Now considered the must-do hike in the Vosges Mountains, this loop is usually described along a different route. As a passionate hiker, I’ve walked these trails many times and wanted to suggest a variation that’s more true to the spirit of a genuine tour of the lakes. In particular, this route allows you to reach the viewpoint above Rocher Hans without having to tackle its most technical section. It also invites you to explore the least-known part of Lac Noir, which, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful spots to appreciate the charm of this small lake. Finally, it offers an extended view of Lac des Truites and its impressive rocky encirclement. I particularly enjoy this version. It may be a bit more challenging than the most common route, but it’s also more comprehensive and offers more scenic viewpoints, providing an even more immersive experience in the heart of the Vosges landscapes.
