Woodturner's days

Don’t miss this festive weekend, where wood will be the guest of honour. It is one of the valley’s greatest treasures, particularly in the Pays Welche region. Come and discover all the craftsmanship involved in working with this noble material.

Around forty artisans, hailing from the Grand Est, Franche-Comté, as well as Savoie, the Var and Île-de-France – including woodturners, chainsaw sculptors, marquetry artists, fretwork carvers and other woodworking artists – will be showcasing their skills and artistry through demonstrations of their various techniques; they will also be exhibiting their works.

This major biennial gathering of woodturners, fretworkers and other craftspeople – exceptional for the richness and variety of its participants, and for the enthusiasm of the volunteers who organise these events – will be full of surprises and wonderful discoveries in the world of woodworking. And above all, they will be working right in front of you and for you…

Furthermore, on Sunday, outside the museum, you can watch demonstrations of firewood sawing using old mobile saws, as well as other activities centred on traditional woodworking led by the museum’s guides.
