This exhibition invites you to discover the works of artist Linda Bougherara.
For her, creating is not a decorative gesture. It is a vital act. An inner necessity. A way of standing tall.
Her work relentlessly explores the promise of a realm of possibilities, a free space where the imagination, the body and matter interact without boundaries. By making her own paper, the artist engages in a slow, physical, almost organic process, where creation becomes transformation.
The paper is no longer a simple medium: it is a mould, skin, imprint of life. It is born from a mixture of plants — yucca, palm, cactus, bamboo, aloe vera, sugar cane, Japanese knotweed — whose fibres intertwine, metamorphose and reinvent themselves. From this alchemy emerge colourful, vibrant cells, forming interior landscapes, sensitive, open and indefinable territories.
In this exhibition, art is both a refuge and a struggle. It allows us to escape reality — and at the same time, to anchor ourselves deeply in it.
Illness, far from being denied, becomes a root. A dark but nourishing force. A presence that connects us to life, to the earth, to the essential. Creating, then, becomes an act of survival, lucidity and joy.
A powerful affirmation: the strength to live.
