An ideal route for a short, rhythmic outing... With the mythical ascent to Lac Blanc, a passage through flower-filled pairires and a return through the forests of the Vosges.

Leaving Kientzheim, which has preserved its original ramparts, head for Kaysersberg - a picturesque wine-growing town - and Fréland station (which is only a station in name) along the cycle path. Then on to Orbey for the ascent to the Col du Calvaire - Station du Lac Blanc. After a 10-kilometre climb, you can take a short break and enjoy the enchanting panorama. For the return journey, take the same route as far as the junction for Lac Noir. Once past the Lac Noir and its granite cliffs, head for the rural hamlet of Hautes Huttes and then the Wettstein pass. The route continues over the Collet du Linge, which still bears the scars of the harsh fighting of the First World War.

After this final climb, it's off downhill towards Les Trois Epis and then Ammerschwihr, where you'll pass a charming mountain golf course. The walk is almost at an end, with Kientzheim, our starting point, only a short distance away.
